Attainment & Achievement

At Craigellachie we like to celebrate attainment and achievement both within and beyond the school and classroom.

Assessment of attainment within the classroom

We take part in the Moray wide tracking tests known as Pips.  Pupils take these short tests in primary 1, 3, 5 and 7 in order to check that they are making good progress.  These allow us to spot where any child may need some extra support or opportunities to work at a higher level.

When pupils are ready, teachers provide opportunities for them to sit national tests.  The results of these are included in the report to parents in May.

Wider Achievement

Pupils have a wide range of opportunities to achieve throughout their time at Craigellachie.  In the past twelve months pupils have:

  • Taken part in the Euroquiz and represented Moray in the National finals at the government building in Edinburgh.

  • Won the Moray 'Enterprise is the business' competition.

  • Enjoyed notable success in badminton, cross country and kwik cricket  competitions.

  • Gained qualifications in swimming, life saving and first aid.

  • Taken part in a range of drama and musical productions including a song writing project and performance, the Telford celebrations in Elgin, a production directed by Scottish Opera, poetry recitation for St Andrew's day and our very own Christmas production.

Individually pupils have enjoyed success in music examinations, highland dancing, martial arts and a range of other sports.

All achievements are celebrated in our assemblies when pupils are encouraged to share their success with the school.
